About Weston, MA

Weston, Massachusetts is a town in Middlesex County, located about 12 miles west of Boston. Originally part of Watertown, it was incorporated as its own town in 1713. Early in its history, Weston served as a stop along the Boston Post Road, an important colonial route connecting Boston to other cities. This location helped shape the town’s development, as travelers relied on local taverns and services along the route.
Today, Weston is known for its rural character, historic sites, and residential appeal within the Greater Boston area. Landmarks such as the Golden Ball Tavern reflect its colonial past, while preserved open spaces and zoning policies have helped maintain its low-density environment. Over time, Weston transitioned from farmland and small industry into an affluent suburban community, valued for its natural beauty, strong schools, and proximity to Boston.
