About Wellesley, MA

Wellesley, Massachusetts is a town in Norfolk County, located just west of Boston. It was originally part of Dedham and later Needham before being incorporated as its own town in 1881. The town was named after the estate of Samuel Welles, an early settler in the area. Today, Wellesley is part of the Greater Boston region and is known for its suburban character and strong community focus.
Wellesley is especially recognized for its educational institutions and scenic environment. The town is home to Wellesley College, a prestigious women’s liberal arts college founded in 1870, as well as Babson College and a campus of Massachusetts Bay Community College. Natural features like Lake Waban add to the town’s appeal, along with its historic buildings and well-maintained neighborhoods. These factors make Wellesley one of the more desirable residential communities in eastern Massachusetts.
